underneath; the sight is upward or on top. For general
parts terminology, refer to Figure 1A.

The Winchester Model 94 is also shown in some detail,
focussing on the hammer and lever mechanisms (See
Figure 1B through 1C). You must be familiar with these
part names in order to follow instructions contained in
this book. Figure 1D covers the general features and
benefits of the Model 94 design.

Throughout this manual the “action” refers to the
mechanism of this rifle which loads and secures the
cartridge in the chamber.
