Using the Jeppesen Services Update Manager

This section details how to copy the chart data onto the appropriate media to
update your MFD hardware.

What You Need

To copy chart data for your MFD hardware, you need the following:

• Appropriate Media Adapter and Media compatible with your MFD system:

- Iomega Zip

®

250MB USB-Powered External Drive with a 250MB Zip Disk

- USB Flash Drive (only applicable with Avidyne EX5000 units with revision

6 and EX500 with revision 3 or later)

- Secure Digital (SD) Reader/Writer and SD card

- Compact Flash (CF) Reader/Writer and CF card

• Avidyne CMAX Users: Register at http://www.myavidyne.com before

starting the following procedures. To do so, you need your Avidyne MFD
hardware 8-digit serial number found on the EX500 or EX5000 Setup or Aux
screen. During the programming phase to the datacard, you will receive
information on how to retrieve the CMax Key Code and enter it.

• Internet connection

JSUM Login

After JSUM is installed on the computer:

1. Establish an Internet connection.

2. If the login page does not appear after installing Disc 1, click

Start>

Programs>JeppesenServices>JeppesenServices, or click the Jeppesen
Services icon on your desktop.

3. Enter your current username and password if you are an existing

customer or the username and password given to you when you ordered
JeppView MFD. It is also the same username and password you use on
www.Jeppesen.com.

After login the system verifies the server is online, verifies you have the most

recent version of the application, and provides a list of all your services.

Updating Your Media

You must be logged into JSUM before you can program the chart
data to your media. The following process assumes you installed
the chart data to your hard drive during the installation of Disc 1.

1. Ensure your media adapter is connected to the workstation and

the appropriate media is inserted.

2. Select your chart data service from the service list and click

Start. You will see 100 percent in the Download Progress
column because you already copied the charts from Disc 1 to
the hard drive. This indicates that your charts are ready to be
placed on your media.

3. JSUM verifies the presence of your adapter and media.

If the adapter and media presence are not found, click

Browse to

locate the adapter and media. If you are unable to locate the media,
verify the connection, and review the troubleshooting section in
the Help file.

CAUTION Do not remove the media until the programming cycle is

complete! Otherwise, your card may be incomplete or have
corrupt data.

4. The programming cycle automatically writes the data to the media.

As the programming steps are successfully completed, the status
bar in the Program Progress column displays the percentage
