CAM CLEARANCE ADJUSTMENTS

Remove the stock Lash Adjusters, then install the soli
d pivots and measure the cam clearance. Check both
sides, both intake and exhaust.

Replacing the solid pivot requires the removal and
re-installation of the Roller Rockers following the
service manual guide. The Camshafts and Lash adju
sters will be replaced with the Soild Pivots and
Solid compatible Camshafts.

Verify any abnormal play from the bearing of the r
oller rockers. If the abnormal play is too large, then
replace the rocker with a new one.
If the worn rocker is used, the proper clearance
will not be achieved.

Perform the job at normal room temperature

(1) As in the figures A & B, dissasemble the Soild Pivots,

then place the test shim (t=2.600) inside.

(2) As shown in the left illustration, turn the camshaft of
the cylinder you are adjusting the roller rocker to check
   the contact point position.

(3) Measuring the Camshaft Clearance.

Using 2 thickness guages, insert the guages horizontally
into the center, between the camshaft and the roller rocker
to check the cam clearance.

Please use the special thickness guage grade type JIS 150A25.

Cam clearnace = Guage ① + Guage ②

The Reason for Using 2 Thickness Guages to Measure.

・The guage will usually not enter in the correct horizontal position.

NOTE: The thickness gauge is not flexible enough
NOTE: If 3 thickness gauges are used, the chance of error increases.

Be absolutely certain that the readings are taken from the center.
