Troubieshooting Precautions

There is no audio.

• ConiH’ct

AC power cord securely.

• Insert thi' batteries properly.

• ixi'place ail tlK* batteries if thev are

weak.

• Adjust the \'o!ume.

• Set rU.NCTION to the position you

want to operate.

Cassette cannot be inserted.

• Insert the cassette properly.

• Press to release

The • button does not function.

• No cassette is in the tape compartment.

• Make siire the safety tab on the cassette

is in place.

Poor playback,recording or
erasing quality.

• Dirtv heads. Clean the illustrated

portions with a cleaning swab slightly

moistened with cleaning fluid or

alcohc»!.

• Demagnetize the heads and all metal

parts in the tape path with a

commerciailv available tape head

demagnetizer.

On safety/power sources

• Should an\- >olid object or iicjuid tall into the

• Unplug the plaver trtmt the u .ill outlet when it

is not to be used toi' an extended period ot

• For batterv operation, use tour st/('

batteries.

• When the batterie^^ are not to be used, remove

them to a\’oid damage that can be caused bv

batterv kvikage or corrosion.

• The nameplate indicating operating voltage,

power consumption, etc. is located at tlie
bottom.

On placement/operaiion

• Do not leave the plaver in a location near heat

sources, or in a place subject to direct sunlight,
excessic e dust t>r mechanical shock.

• Do not place anvthing within U) mm oi the

rear side of the unit. The \ enlilation li<des
mu-st be unobstructed for the player to t>perate
properly and to prolong tlie lite of its
ctuuponents.

• Since a strong magni't is used for the speakers,

keep personal credit cards using magnetic
coding or spring-u iHind u atches awav from
the plaver to prevent pt>ssible damage from
the magnet.

• Do not lift the handle when the telescopic

antenna is extended.

• If the player has not been used for a long time,

set it in the playback mode to warm it up for a
few minutes before inserting a cassette'.

Notes on cassettes

• Break off the cassette

tab from side A or B
to prevent accidental
recording. If vou want
to reuse the tape for
recording, cover the
broken tab with
adhesive tape.

• The use of a cassette with more than 90

minutes of plav time is not recommended
except for long, continuous recording or
playback.
