When not using the handset for
an extended period of time, take
the battery out of the handset
and store it after charging for
over 10 hours.
Battery duration------------------------------------
A fully charged battery pack in the cordless handset will last
approximately:
• 10 hours in continuous talk mode
• 30 days in RING ON mode
• 2 months in ВЛТТ SAVE mode
To determine the remaining battery power
Press TALK. The battery lamps wUl give you the following
information:
Battery lamps Amount of battery power
E’ull power
N * /• \ V Some power (Exchange the battery as
soon as possible).
Little power (Exchange the battery
immediately).
- - -
No power (Cordless handset cannot
operate any more without charging the
battery).
If the battery becomes weak during a phone
call------------------------------------------------------
The phone will beep every three seconds (battery alarm). Within
one minute, you must exchange the battery pack, otherwise the
call will be disconnected.
Be sure to exchange the battery
within one minute.
Exchanging the battery during phone call —
If you hear the battery alarm, proceed as follows:
1 Press MUTE to put the call on mute.
The TALK lamp flashes.
2 Exchange the battery in the cordless handset with a fully
charged one in the base unit.
3 Press TALK to resume the conversation.

If a power interruption lasts for
more than several days, or when
unplugging the base unit from
the AC outlet, remove the battery
pack from the base unit and store
it away.
In case of a power interruption-----------------------
The base unit battery, if fully charged, will provide backup power
to the base unit for approximately:
• 4 to 6 hours in standby mode
• 2 to 3 hours in the continuous talk mode
When to replace the battery pack--------------------
• The battery can be recharged many, many times. However, if
the battery lasts only for a few minutes even after 10 hours of
charging, it needs replacement.
• To purchase a replacement battery, please visit your local Sony
authorized dealer or service centre.
Be sure to use only Sony BP-T40 battery.
