y-intercept (b) of the cal

culated line.

Slope (m) of the calcu

lated line.

* The sample standard deviation assumes that the data is a sampling of a larger,

complete set of data. The population standard deviation assumes that the data con

stitutes the entire population.

t The correlation coefficient is a number in the range * 1 through +1 that measures

how closety the data fits the calculated lino. A value of -f 1 indicates a perfect positive

correlation, and -1 indicates a perfect negative correlation. A value close to zero
indicates the line is a poor fit.
