Replacing the Light Pipe Assembly

To replace the light pipe assembly on an existing SFP board, use the following

instructions, but replace the existing SFP board instead of installing a board:

Removing the SAS Front Panel (SFP) Board

Replacing the Light Pipe Assembly

(the steps below)

Installing the SFP Board

1. Note the position of the light pipe assembly so youcan later correctly position it on

the SFP board during the re-installation process. The pipes extend outward from

the SFP board to the front panel control panel.

2. Remove the light pipe assembly by gently pressing the four plastic clips from the

underside of the SFP board until the bottom of the clips are flush with the bottom of

the SFP board.

3. Ease the light pipe assembly from the SFP board.
4. Insert the four plastic clips on the light pipe assembly into the matching holes in

the new SFP board. Insert the clips gently and evenly; do not insert one clip fully

without first partially pressing the others into place.

3.5.3.3

Installing the SFP Board

1. Lower the SFP board into the chassis.
2. While holding the rear edge of the board, ease the board forward, sliding the serial

port and USB port connector assembly through the matching cutout at the front

panel of the chassis.

3. Lower the rear of the board into position, fitting the board over the placement

pegs. ("B")

4. Pull the board forward, locking the board onto the placement pegs. ("B")
5. Replace the screws you removed earlier. (“C”)
