Operating Times
All estimated operating times are based on a fully charged battery. A fully charged battery is one that has been
charged until the charger pilot lamp has switched from red to green (signifying 95% charged).
NOTE: To preserve battery life, disconnect the battery when not in use. Even if the indicator is turned off, the indicator
will still draw a small amount of power while connected.
IS-6V Battery Charging
Charging a dead battery takes 10 hours maximum. The recommended initial battery charging time is 14 hours.
1. Disconnect battery cable from indicator.
2. Remove battery pack from indicator tilt stand and take to non-hazardous area.
3. Charge using RLWS-model battery charger (PN 74001 or 74002).
Re-charge batteries in a non-hazardous location.
Battery Replacement
Only replace battery with RLWS PN 56966.
Batteries must be changed in a non-hazardous location only.
1. Disconnect battery cable from indicator.
2. Remove battery pack from indicator tilt stand and take to non-hazardous area.
3. Place the battery pack on an antistatic work mat. Remove the screws that hold the cover plate to the
enclosure body, then lift the cover plate away from the enclosure and set it aside.
4. Carefully disconnect the wires from the battery. Remove battery.
5. Place new battery in enclosure with positive terminal facing intrinsically safe barrier.
6. Connect all wires (see Table 3 on page 4). Ensure that none of the wires will be pinched between the
gasket and the enclosure.
7. To maintain NEMA 4 integrity, torque cover plate screws according to Figure 5 on page 4.
8. Replace battery pack in indicator tilt stand and connect battery cable at three-pin connector.
NOTE: Dispose of battery per manufacturer instructions.
