Verifying the Update

Confirming system performance

It is important to verify proper operation of the system after the upgrade. Use the
following table to assist. If you are unfamiliar with the system operation, ask a clinician
familiar with system usage to assist.

For completeness, you may want to consider checking the following for proper operation
as applicable to your system.

Hallway Message Panels

Repeater Displays

Unit list (access to other networked systems).

Test

Verification Steps

Power-Up

System map is displayed on screen.

Patient Connections

All active patient monitors are displayed after the upgrade.

Compare with the previously printed Patient List as necessary.

Patient Data

Live ECG waveforms are displayed for active patient monitors.

Pointer Device

Proper trackball / mouse pointer movement.

Keyboard

Proper keyboard operation.

Select a patient monitor from the map. Select Setup > Patient ID.

In the Patient Note field, enter some text (up to 20 characters) from the keyboard.

Verify text is displayed properly.

Select Undo, and then Close.

Audible Alarm

Simulate an alarm condition

Change the alarm limits on a patients ECG to create an alarm condition.

Select a patient monitor from the map.

Select Setup > Alarms.

For one of the parameters, slide the lower limit to the right so that it past the
current value.

Verify that an audible alarm is present after a few seconds, and that the border of
the patient monitor turns red.

Reset the alarm limits to the previous value to clear the alarm state and select
Close.

Full Disclosure Data

View a patient monitor’s historical waveforms.

Select a patient monitor from the map.

Select Review > Waveforms.

Click on the left arrow to go back and review stored patient waveforms.

Print Function

Perform a SnapShot print.

Select a patient monitor from the map.

Select SnapShot.

Confirm that a Snapshot type of print is printed by the system printer.

Note

The ability to view Live ECG Waveforms and/or review Full Disclosure Data is
dependent on system configuration. If the system under test is configured to
operate as an Auto Open Secondary (AOS) or Patient List Review (PLR) system,
you may have limited functionality if the Primary system is not upgraded first.
