Appendix D: Data Pro Troubleshooting Guide

Screen Explanation

No LabPro Found

Is LabPro powered
and connected to the
Palm?

This screen appears when LabPro is not connected to the Palm or
when LabPro needs new batteries.

Check the connection between LabPro and your Palm. Firmly push
in the cable, and then choose Retry.

Check that any other devices that plug into the HotSync port are
disabled. Keyboards are a common example.

If you choose Retry without correcting the problem, the error screen
reappears.

If you choose Continue, then you can continue working in Data Pro
(on collected data, saved data, or in Manual Entry mode) but you
won’t be able to collect new data.

This screen appears when the LabPro is disconnected from the Palm
and used for a different task or when the LabPro loses power. When
the LabPro and Palm are reconnected, the Palm may not recheck the
sensor setup, and this error results.

Did You Install and
HotSync Your Current
Palm OS device?

A common error is not to have previously installed Palm Desktop
software, or not to have previously performed a HotSync with the Palm
OS device on which you are installing.

Make sure that the HotSync Manager is enabled. Start the Palm
Desktop application. Select the HotSync/Setup… menu and see if
the Enabled button is on.

Pro to Multiple Palm
OS devices

Installing Data Pro to Multiple Palm OS devices

If you have more than one Palm device on which you are installing
Data Pro software, you will follow the same directions as outlined
in the previous section. It is important that you have previously
connected and done a HotSync with each of the Palm devices
before running the Data Pro installer—the HotSync will ensure
that a user’s folder has been created for each of the Palm devices.
Following the directions in the previous section, a Data Pro folder
will be created in each of the Palm User folders on that computer;
this way, as you do a HotSync for each Palm OS device, Data Pro
will be transferred to that Palm device, one at a time.
