Manual No. M14-223

For temperature-controlled measurement you need to set the thermostat to the desired temperature and
to wait then until the sample has reached the desired temperature (e.g. temperature measurement by
Pt100, menu item Devices for Temperature Measurement).

Now the measurement can be carried out.

To remove the measuring system after measurement, open the measuring bob coupling first and then
untighten the threaded joint for the sample cup.

Clean sample cup and measuring bob carefully without using hard objects. Be sure to avoid scratches.

Store the measuring bob on a soft surface or in its original jar.

IV.1.3 Measurement with Temperature Control Device

When using a disposable measuring system, place the single-way sample cup into the sample cup seat
as far as the widening of the aluminium cup. Due to the widening in its upper part the sample cup is held
and clamped tightly. The sample cup ejector serves to remove the sample cup.

Fill the sample cup with substance (for filling quantity, see Appendix E “Data Sheets for Standard
Measuring Systems”). Avoid trapping air bubbles when filling in the sample, as they would result in non-
repruducible or false measuring values.

Insert the measuring bob into the sample cup. Slide the coupling sleeve of the measuring bob coupling up
(ring visible). Place the complete measuring system into the temperature control device from below and
fasten it with the threaded joint for the sample cup. Be careful to insert the measuring bob shaft into the
coupling without bumping against it. Now insert the measuring bob shaft into the measuring bob coupling
and slide the coupling sleeve down (ring hidden).

For temperature-controlled measurement you need to set the thermostat to the desired temperature and
to wait then until the sample has reached the desired temperature (e.g. temperature measurement by
Pt100, menu item Start & End Temperature).

In this case make sure that cooling liquid flows through the cooling device KE for temperatures outside the
range of –10°C...+90°C. Now the measurement can be carried out.

When the measurement is finished, first open the measuring bob coupling and then unscrew the threaded
joint for the sample cup.

When using a disposable measuring system, push the single-way sample cup out with the sample cup
ejector.

Clean sample cup, sample cup seat and measuring bob carefully without using hard objects. Be sure to
avoid scratches.

Store the measuring bob on a soft surface or in its original jar.

IV.1.4 Measurement Using Cone/Plate and Plate/Plate Measuring System

Accessory

To insert the measuring bob you need to loosen the quarter-turn fastener (“loose” position) and to pull the
measuring table (measuring plate) downwards.

Caution!

Assembly / disassembly of measuring device

Hold the measuring device with one hand by the lower part while loosening and mounting the

quarter-turn fastener, or else the measuring table will fall down.
