Carburetor Insulator

To remove/replace the carburetor insulator:

1. Remove the air filter housing by following the previ-

ously described steps.

NOTE: Drain the fuel tank or clamp the fuel line before

starting work to prevent spillage.

NOTE: Dispose of drained fuel in a safe and responsible

manner.

2.

Remove the carburetor.

2a.

Remove and discard the fuel line.

NOTE: Disconnecting the fuel line causes tiny tears in the

inner lining of the fuel line. These tears will col-
lapse the inner lining, cutting off fuel flow.

2b.

Double-nut the studs for removal, with a washer
between the serrated faces of the nuts. See
Figure 3.12.

2c.

After the second stud is removed, the carbure-
tor can be maneuvered to disconnect the link-
ages. See Figure 3.13.

To avoid personal injury or property damage, use extreme care in handling gasoline. Gaso-
line is extremely flammable and the vapors are explosive. Serious personal injury can occur
when gasoline is spilled on yourself and/or your clothes which can ignite. Wash your skin

and change clothes immediately
