To remove/replace the air vane:

1.

Remove the fuel cap and tether by unscrewing
them. See Figure 4.6.

2.

Remove the fuel tank nut.

3.

Remove the screw that holds the fuel tank to the
shroud using a 10 mm wrench.

4.

Remove the engine cover.

5.

Lift the shroud enough to gain access to the char-
coal canister.

6.

Disconnect the fuel tank vacuum line from the can-
ister.

7.

Slide the tank out of the shroud.

8.

Remove the two screws that hold the air vane
bracket using an 8 mm wrench. See Figure 4.14.

9.

Slide the air vane and bracket off of the temperature
compensating rod.

10.

Disconnect the choke rod.

11.

Install by following the above steps in reverse order.

NOTE: When the choke rod is connected properly,

the indented section should be between the
screw posts of the intake manifold pointing
towards the engine block. See Figure 4.15.

Temperature compensator

To remove/replace the temperature compensator:

1.

Remove the screw that hold the compensator to the
cylinder using a 10 mm wrench. See Figure 4.16.

2.

Slide the compensator rod out of the air vane.

3.

Install the compensator by following the previous
steps in reverse order.

NOTE: When installing the compensator, there is a

tab that must be inserted into a notch in the
mounting cavity. See Figure 4.16 inset.
