Quick Start:

1. Press and release the MULTI-FUNCTION button.

3. Hold firmly to temple, wait for beep.

2. Wait 2 seconds.

4. Read results.

5. Before re-measuring: wait at least 1 minute.

Measuring Guidelines:

1. Measurement body location is the temple, in proximity to the temporal artery, between the end of the

eyebrow and hairline.

2. Do not place the thermometer on scarred tissue compromised by skin disorder, open sores or abrasions

and patients in trauma.

3. Temperature readings are affected by many factors including exercise and drinking hot or cold beverages

prior to taking a reading.

4. Consult your physician when using drug therapies that may raise the local skin temperature in the

forehead; this may lead to an incorrect reading.

5. Do not place the thermometer on skin exposed to direct sunlight, fireplace heat, air conditioner flow and

cold/warm compress therapies.

6. Wait at least one minute between consecutive measurements for the unit to readjust to

room temperature.

7. If the thermometer has been stored at a cold temperature, allow the unit to warm naturally to room

temperature before using.

8. Performance may be degraded if operated or stored outside stated temperature/humidity ranges.

Taking Temperature:

Use this thermometer on a clean dry forehead. Wipe away any perspiration,

move hair aside from the temporal area and apply the probe to bare skin.

1. Press and release the Multi-Function button, all segments will be displayed along with a

single audible beep (Figure 1).

2. The previous result will be displayed for 2 seconds (Figure 2).

3. Wait for the hourglass icon to disappear (Figure 3). Do not try to take a measurement

before the hourglass icon disappears, as this may compromise the results.

4. Place the thermometer's probe in the center of the temple area between the end of

the eyebrow and the hairline. Gently press and hold it against the temple to ensure

good contact with the skin is maintained (Figures 4a + 4b). Correct placement and

good contact with the skin ensure reliable readings.

5. As soon as the thermometer is in place, the measurement will start automatically.

A running circle will appear indicating that the measurement is progressing successfully

(Figure 5). Make sure that the thermometer and the patient do not move while

measurement is in progress.

6. A temperature reading will be displayed within 6-8 seconds. One long beep will be

heard to indicate that measurement is complete and temperature will be displayed for about 1 minute.

7. Press and release the Multi-Function button to turn the thermometer off, or it will shut off automatically

after 1 minute.

If you need to take another reading – wait at least a minute after turning the thermometer

off and begin again. If you take a measurement before 1 minute has elapsed, the device

will perform a 10 to 0 countdown to allow the device to re-adjust.

DO NOT TRY TO MEASURE DURING THE COUNTDOWN. If you attempt to do so,

the device will display the previous result, beep 8 times and turn itself off automatically.

Operation of the °F - °C feature (The device setting is by default Fahrenheit (°F).

To change the scale from the OFF position, press and hold the Multi-Function button for

5 seconds. On the screen you will see the hourglass icon disappear, all segments will be

displayed, the last reading will be displayed, and then the scale (C/F) will change.

Continuously pressing the button will allow you to toggle between scales. Release the

button and the scale will be selected after 5 seconds, then the thermometer is ready for use.

Changing the battery:

To install/replace, first switch off the device. Remove the battery cover by sliding it out of its

housing. Firmly attach the batteries to their place, making sure polarity is correct. (see engraving on the

bottom of battery compartment). Slide the battery cover back into place.

Troubleshooting and special indications:

The thermometer has been designed to display feedback-warnings to ensure proper usage

and accurate temperature measurement. When an error appears, the device will "beep" 5

times, and then the thermometer will turn off automatically. In the event of a malfunction or

incorrect temperature measurement, the following warnings will be displayed:

HI: If the measured temperature is above 107.6°F (42°C) the device will beep and display HI”.

Remedy: Turn the unit OFF, wait 1 minute and then ON again. Retake temperature using

proper technique. If still reads HI, this indicates that the patient has a high fever. Seek immediate

medical attention.

LO: If the measured temperature is below 95°F (35°C) the device will beep and display “LO”.

Remedy: Turn the unit OFF, wait 1 minute and then ON again. Retake temperature using

proper technique. If still reads LO, this indicates that the patient has a low body temperature.

Er.1: If the thermometer is too cold or too hot to operate. The device will beep 5 times and

display “Er.1”

Remedy: 1. Verify room temperature within product range 60.8°F-104°F (16° C - 40° C).

2. Wait 1 minute and then retake temperature using proper technique.

Er.2: If the temperature did not register because of poor contact, patient movement or poor

placement, the device will beep 5 times and display “Er.2”

Remedy: Turn the unit OFF, wait 1 minute, turn it ON again and retake temperature using

proper technique.

Er.3: If the unit malfunctioned, the device will beep 5 times and display “Er.3”

Remedy: Do not use the thermometer – Call 1-800-232-2670 for service.
