2.0 USING THE SOFTWARE
2.1 Setting Up The COM Port
In order for the computer to communicate with the digital indicator the proper COM port
must be selected in the DataLog software. Follow the steps below.
1. Make sure the digital indicator is turned on and connected to your PC.
2. Open the DataLog software. (Start > All Programs > DataLog)
3. Click the “Connect” button on the DataLog screen.
4. If the status says “Connected” (in green) then the connection was successful and
the software is ready to use.
5. If the status says “Not Connected” (in red) then the connection was unsuccessful.
Try changing the COM port to the next number in the drop down menu then go
back to step 3 above.
Note: If you are having trouble, use the Device Manager in Windows to find valid COM
port(s). Below is an example for Windows XP.
1. Click on My Computer.
2. Select “View System Information”
3. Select the “Hardware” tab.
4. Select the “Device Manager”.
5. In the Device Manager click on Ports (Com & LPT).
6. Under Ports you should see all valid Communications Ports as shown below.
