REPLACE

BELTS

The drive bells on this snow thrower are of special
consiruction

and

should

be replaced with original

equipment beils available from your nearest Sears Store

or Service Center

You wilt need the assistance of a second person while

replacing the bells

Drain the gasoline from the fuel tank by removing the fuei

line Drain the gas and reinstall the fuel line

CAUTION:

DRAIN THE

GASOLINE OUT­

DOORS, AWAY FROM FIRE OR FLAME.

AUGER DRIVE BELT

If your snow thrower wii! not discharge snow, and the

auger drive belt is damaged, replace it as foliows:

« Disconnect the spark plug wire

Remove the bell cover (See Fig, 27)

Loosen

the beit guides (See Fig 28) and pull away

from the engine drive pulley

® Loosen the nut on the auger idler pulley (See Fig

28) and pull

idler

pulley away from the belt

® Remove belt from engine drive pulley

® Remove top two bolts securing auger housing to

motor

mount frame Loosen bottom two bolts (See

Fig 30, page 20)

® Auger housing and motor mount frame will sepa­

rate, hinged by bottom two bolls

B Remove brake arm Irom housing Do not remove

spring

B Remove old belt from the auger drive pulley

® Install new replacement belt of the same type onto

the auger pulley

e

Reinstall brake arm into housing Ensure brake arm

is fully inserted into housing and brake pad Is riding

in pulley groove

Position belt onto engine drive pulley

Adjust the auger drive belt (see To Adjust Auger

Drive Belt paragraph on page 18)

o Adjust the belt guides (see To Adjust The Belt

Guides paragraph on page 20)

Replace lop two bolts Be-tighten bottom two bolts

® Reinstall the belt cover

s Check the clutch control cable adjustment (see

page 16)

a Reconnect the spark plug wire,

TRACTION DRIVE BELT (See Fig. 28)

It your snow thrower will not move forward, check the

traction drive belt for wear (Check other causes also in

the Trouble Shooting Points section ) If the traction drive

» Disconnect the spark plug wire,

ft Remove the belt cover

s Loosen belt guides and pull guides away from the

engine drive pulley

Loosen

nut

on auger idler and pull auger idlerpuiley

away from belt

♦ Remove auger drive belt from engine pulley,

Pull the traction drive bell idlerpuiley away from the

drive belt

« Remove drive belt.

Position new replacement belt of the same type

onto traction pulley

e Pull idler pulley away from belt, allowing belt to be

positioned onto engine pulley,

Release idlerpuiley Ensure idler pulley is properly

engaged with belt

e Reinstall auger drive bell on engine

Adjust bell guides and lighten the mounting sc; • -vs

(see To Adjust The Belt Guides paragraph on page

20

)

a Readjust auger idler to adjust belt See page 18

B Reinstall the belt cover,

® Reconnect the spark plug wire
