To Stitch a Wide Hem
(1) A wide hem may be
stitched evenly on
sheets, pillow slips,
etc., with the edge-
Stitcher after the
hem has b e e n
measured and the
edge turned.
(2) Insert the edge in slot
5, Fig. 51, and ad
just the lug D2 to
stitch as close to
the edge as desired.

(1) To make a uniform
width French seam,
insert the two edges
to be joined, wrong
sides together, in
s l o t 1 o r 2 Fig. 51
and stitch close
to the edge.
(2) Fold both right sides
together and insert
the b a c k o f t h e
seam in the slot 1
and stitch, allow
ing j u s t e n o u g h
margin to conceal
the raw edges.
