ENGINE
Fill crankcase 13 with Ariens Sno-Thro oil 5W-20 when
using Sno-Thro.
Use MS classification SAE-30 when using lawn attachments.
Fill fuel tank 14 with fresh, clean, regular gasoline.
NOTE: For detailed instructions on engine refer to manu­
facturer's booklet packed with the machine.
TRACTOR DRIVE
At start of season, grease gears, hex and axle shaft as in­
dicated in figure. Use Ariens Moly Lithium grease.
Put two or three drops of light oil on shift lever and other
linkage points. CAUTION: Do not allow grease or oil to
come in contact with friction wheel, drive disc or belts.
ADJUSTMENT OF FRICTION DRIVE: 4 and 5 H.P. Tip
the machine forward on the blower housing. Tighten ad­
justment nut (J) while turning the wheels by hand. Tighten
until the wheels just begin to bind, then back off one half
turn. Wheels should rotate freely.
ADJUSTMENT OF FRICTION DRIVE: 6, 7 and 8 H.P.
Tip the machine forward on the blower housing. Remove
the bottom cover. Place the shift lever in 4th speed position.
Loosen the jam nut (E). Use a .020 inch (.5mm) shim
between friction wheel (G) and drive disc (H). Turn the
friction wheel by hand and adjust nut (F) until the shim
just clears at the closest point. Tighten the jam nut (E).
SNO-THRO UNIT
Drain and refill Sno-Thro gear case with about five ounces
of Ariens Premium Gear Lubricant MP-90 every 25 hours
operation.
To drain and refill, remove fill plug (B), remove drain plug
(A) and allow oil to drain. Tip machine back on handle­
bars. Pour oil into fill hole (B) until it starts to run out of
drain hole.
Replace drain and fill plugs. Grease rake shaft (C) periodi­
cally or each time a shear bolt (D) is replaced. At the end of
season, remove shear bolts, grease rake shaft, turn rakes on
shaft several times and replace shear bolts. Use Ariens Moly
Lithium grease.

MOTOR:
Man fuellt das Kurbelgehaeuse 13 mit Ariens Sno-Thro
Oel 5W-20, wenn Sno-Thro gebraucht wird. Man ver-
wendet Ms SAE-30 Oel, wenn die Rasenzusatzgeraete
gebraucht werden.
Mit fuellt den Benzintank 14; mit frischem, sauberem,
gewoehniichem Oel.
BEMERKUNG: Fuer detaillierte ANweisungen ueber den
Motor soli man sich auf das mit der Maschine gepackte
Handbuch beziehen.

TRAKTOR:
Am Anfang der Saison soll man alle Getriebe, die sechs­
eckige Stange und die Achsenstange schmieren, wie auf
der Zeichnung gezeigt wird. Wir raten das Ariens Moly
Lithium Schmiermittel an. Man stellt ein paar Tropfen
leichten Oels auf den Schaltungshebel und andere Ver-
knuepfungsspitzen.
EINSTELLUNG DES FRIKTIONSANTRIEBS; 4 und 5
P.S. Man kippt die Maschine vorwaerts auf des Blaeser-
gehaeuse. Man macht die Bolzenmutter (J) fest, waehrend
man die Raeder mit der Hand dreht. Man macht fest, bis
Raeder zu klemmen beginnen, dann dreht man die Bolzen­
mutter eine halbe Drehung in die andere Richtung. Die
Raeder sollen frei umlaufen.
EINSTELLUNG DES FRIKTIONSANTRIEBS: 6, 7, und 8
P.S. Man unteren Deckel ab. Dann stellt man den Schal­
tungshebel in die vierte Geschwindigkeitslage. Man macht
Klemmbolzen (E) locker. Man verwendet eine .5mm Ein-
legestueck zwischen dem Friktionsrad (G) und der An­
triebsplatte (H). Man dreht das Frikitionsrad mit der
Hand und stellt den Bolzen (F) ein, bis das Einlegestueck
am naechsten Punkt kaum vorbeipasst. Man macht den
Klemmbolzen (E) wieder fest.
VORSICHT: Man soll weder Schmiermittel noch Oel in
Beruehung mit dem Friktionsrad, der Antriebsplatte, oder
den Riemen kommen lassen.
SNO-THRO GERAET;
Man laesst das alte Schmiermittel ablaufen und fuellt das
Getriebegehaeuse mit ungefaehr fuenf Unzen Ariens Pre­
mium Getriebeschmiermittel (Gear Lubricant) MP-90 jede
25 Stunden Betriebszeit wieder zu.
