R ead and follow the assembly and adjustment
instructions for your snow thrower. All fasteners
are in the parts bag. Do not discard any parts or
material until the unit is assembled.

right des cribe the location of a part from

the operator'S pos ition behind the unit.

NOT E : T orque is meas ured in foot pounds

(metric N.m). T his meas urement des cribes

how tight a nut or bolt mus t be. T he
torque is meas ured with a torque wrench.

How T o R emove T he S now T hrower
F rom T he C arton

1. Locate all parts that are packed separately

and remove from the carton.

2. R emove and discard the packing material

from around the snow thrower.

3. C ut down all four corners of the carton and

lay the side panels flat.

4. Hold onto the lower handle and pull the snow

thrower off the carton.
C A UT ION: DO NOT back over cables .

5. R emove the packing material from the han-

dle assembly.

How T o A s s emble T he Handle

1. R emove the packing material from the upper

and lower handles.

2. (F igure 1) Loosen the knobs (1) on each

side of the handle (2).

3. R aise the upper handle (2) to the operating

position.. Hold the upper handle (2) apart to
prevent scratching the lower handle.
NOT E : Make s ure the cables are not
caught between the upper and lower
handle.

4. Tighten the knobs (1).
5. (F igure 2) C ut and discard the cable tie (3)

from the lower end of the chute control rod
(4).

6. Turn the chute deflector (5) around toward

the front of the snow thrower.

F or shipping purposes, some models are
shipped with the rear nut and bolt removed from
the lower chute (3). If the lower chute is not at-

tached, assemble as follows.
1. Use the bolt (1) and nut (2) found in the

parts bag to attach the lower chute (3).

2. Tip the lower chute (3) backward until the

hole in the chute ring is aligned with the hole
in the lower chute (3).

3. Attach the lower chute (3) with bolt (1)

and nut (2). Make sure the nut (2) is tight.

T he C hute C ontrol R od (F igure 4)

1. R emove the cotter pin (1),

flat was her (2),

and wave was her (3) from the end of the
chute control rod (4). DO NOT DIS C AR D.

2. Mount the end of the chute control rod (4)

through the hole in the control rod bracket
(5). Make sure the worm gear (6) is aligned
with the notches (7) in the dis charge chute
(8).

3. F asten the chute control rod (4) to the

control rod bracket (5) with cotter pin (1),
flat was her (2), and wave was her (3).

4. R otate the chute control rod (4) clockwise

and counterclockwise. Make sure the dis -
charge chute (8) rotates freely

How T o P repare T he E ngine

WA R NING : F ollow the engine
manufacturer’ s ins tructions for the
type of fuel and oil to us e. Always

us e a s afety fuel container . Do not s moke
when adding fuel to the engine.
When ins ide an enclos ure, do not fill the
fuel tank. B efore you add fuel ,
s top the engine. L et the engine cool for
s everal minutes .

S ee the engine manufacturer’s instructions for

the type of fuel and oil to use. B efore you use

the unit, read the information on safety, opera-

tion, maintenance, and storage.

NOT E : E ngine hors epower ratings may vary

by engine adjus tments , manufacturing vari-

ances , altitude, atmos pheric conditions , fuel

and maintenance.

B efore You Operate

B efore you operate your new snow thrower

,

please review the following checklist:

.

Make sure all assembly instructions have
been completed.

Make sure the discharge chute rotates freely

.

Make sure that no loose parts remain in the
carton.

As you learn how to properly use the snow
thrower, pay extra attention to the following im-
portant items.

B ecome familiar with the location of all

controls and understand their function.

B efore starting the engine, make sure all

controls operate correctly.

Make sure the engine crank case is filled with
the correct amount and type of motor oil.

T he 4-cycle engine used in this snow thrower
requires 4-cycle motor oil in the crank case.
Use a quality synthetic 5w-30 or10w-30 oil.
