Folders and Directory Locations

All Sonnox Preset filenames have the suffix ‘.spt’.

It is recommended that you create a subdirectory within the Factory Preset directory in which

to store your own Presets. You can do this when you save your first Preset, or by using a

window browser in Windows. If you wish, you can re-organise the Factory Presets along

with your own Presets into any hierarchical directory structure that reflects the way you

work. It is recommended that you adopt a convention to help you navigate more intuitively,

such as giving directory names all upper case letters.

If multiple users will be using the same Oxford Plug-In installed on a single computer, then

the best idea is to copy the Factory Presets into a location that belongs to an individual user,

and set the root directory of the Presets Manager to point to this new directory. This root

directory will be saved uniquely for each user, so usage by other users will not disturb the

preferences of an individual user. Personal Presets can then be created in a subdirectory of

the root directory. In this way, each user has their own copy of the Factory Presets, plus their

own private Presets.

If you are a Windows Vista or Windows 7 user, you may have noticed the enhanced security
feature set put in place when Windows is first installed. By default, Windows will now only
allow administrator access to the modification of files in the Program Files directory. Any
Presets saved inside Program Files with default security settings will automatically move the
saved file into a Virtual file store, located outside of the Program files directory. This file can
be retrieved and modified by clicking on the ‘Compatibility Files’ tab in the explorer
window. For this option to display, the User Account Control settings in the Control Panel
must be set to default.

If you are using 32 and 64-bit versions of the plug-in on a Windows 7/ Vista 64-bit system, it
is recommended that you change your default save directory of both versions to the 64-bit
Preset path, created in the user directory. This will allow the 32-bit and 64-bit plug-in
versions to load and save .spt Presets from the same directory, without access restrictions.
