IN/mm Button:

The micrometer can be changed from inch mode (displays measured val-
ues in the English measurement unit of inches) to millimeter mode (displays
measured values in the metric unit of millimeters), or the reverse, with one
push of this button.

ZERO/ABSOLUTE Button:

One short push (less than one second) of this button will zero the display at
any point (some call this the “incremental mode”). A long push (more than
one second) of this button will return the display to the original reading (this
is the “absolute mode”) and the letters “ABS” will appear in the display.

Setting the DATUM:

When the batteries are replaced the tool will come up in Absolute Mode
and the display will flash until the DATUM button is pushed. To set the
DATUM , the tool must be in the Absolute mode for the button to function (see
ZERO/ABSOLUTE Button). Typically, the DATUM will be set to the shortest
measurement position, for example with the anvil closed for the 1” and
25mm version micrometers. For the larger size micrometers, the DATUM
button will set the length of the calibration standard that is shipped with
the tool.

HOLD Button:

One button push will freeze the display and the word “HOLD” will appear
in the display. A second push will update the display to the current position
reading.

Output (795 series only):

This micrometer comes with an output port that allows data transmission to
computers or printers using the appropriate Starrett cable/adaptor or Starrett
DataSure

®

wireless interface.

If this tool is to be connected to Starrett data collectors/processors, it will
require Starrett cable No. PT 62680 and Starrett module PT61192 (Starrett
Module #3).
