The maximum storage function is also digital in order to overcome signal decay problems. The system
operates by continually comparing the stored maximum with the current RMS level and when the RMS is
larger it switches on an oscillator which causes the maximum value to ramp up to the RMS level. This value
is then held until such time as a larger value appears on the RMS line.
The pause function will inhibit the updating of the maximum store whilst also gating off the noise energy
and elapsed time data stores. It will not, however, affect the operation of the SPL functions. Hence, it will
be possible to see from the meter when the extraneous noise source has passed and the integration may be
continued.
12 Accessories
The CEL-193 is supplied complete with an executive style attaché case that will accept all the standard
accessories (excluding the CT-3). A wide range of cables for connecting auxiliary instrumentation are also
available and full details are available on request.
CEL-196 AUTOMATIC THIRD OCTAVE ANALYSER
Thirty one, third octave filters are contained within this compact unit that may be selected by means of solid
state switches. It also has the necessary control logic to enable it to be synchronized with graphic level
recorders. It has its own self contained batteries and covers the thirty one bands between 20Hz and 20kHz.
The unit has been designed to be mechanically compatible with the CEL-193 (or CEL-175 and CEL-187) but
it can also be used with a wide range of other measurement systems.
CEL-178 OCTAVE FILTER
A self-contained unit designed to screw onto the base of the CEL-193. It has ten standard octave filters in
the range 31.5 Hz to 16kHz conforming to IEC 225 and in addition provides A, B, C and D frequency
weightings. It has its own internal batteries which enable the filter to be used independently if required.
CEL-177 PRECISION ACOUSTIC CALIBRATOR
This unit enables the calibration of the Sound Level Meter to be checked in the field.
CEL-2942/5 EXTENSION CABLE
A 5 metre cable for the pre-amplifier to enable the remote operation of either microphone or integrator.
Also available in 10 and 20 metre lengths under the numbers CEL-2942/10 and CEL-2942/20.
CT-3 TRIPOD
A heavy duty tripod, complete with carrying case that may be used to mount either the complete instrument
or the preamplifier only when the extension cable is used.
CEL-2962 WINDSHIELD
A molded foam windshield that fits over the microphone in order to minimize the effects of wind noise in the
microphone grille.
CEL-3025 VIBRATION ATTACHMENT
This comprises the CEL-189 Integrator and a CEL-191 Accelerometer and connecting cable. The integrator
screws onto the preamplifier in place of the microphone and has a switch to select either acceleration,
velocity or displacement. When used with this attachment the CEL-1 93 will give a readout of the vibration
severity in terms of the parameter selected on the integrator. The ranges covered are as follows:
Acceleration 0.00013 to 10g linear over the frequency range 8Hz to 10kHz.
Velocity 8 x 10-5 to, 3.16m/sec linear over the frequency range 15Hz to l0kHz.
Displacement 2.5 x 10-6 to 0.1 m over the frequency range 30Hz to 3kHz.
