CLEANING

Before commencing sampling, the slits and air intake nozzle should be

cleaned and if necessary sterilised. Cleaning can be performed by carefully

rubbing a sterile alcohol wipe over the slit faces and around the inside of the

inlet nozzle, followed by passing a clean card along the length of the slits to

ensure they are free from any blockages.

The nozzle and inlet should be allowed to air dry before operation. The slits

can be similarly treated by wiping them with a cloth soaked in either solution.

Under no circumstances should heat or steam be used to sterilise the unit.

The outer surfaces of the instrument can be cleaned using a clean damp

cloth, and the window at the front of the sampling head cleaned with an anti-

static polish.

Always run the assembled unit in the area to be monitored for approximately

5 minutes before undertaking the actual sampling.
