Why can’t I perform a treatment when I have an “active” tan?

Do not use the device on tanned skin or after exposure to the sun. Tanned skin, especially

after exposure to the sun, contains a large amount of the pigment melanin. This applies to

all skin types and colours, including those that do not seem to tan quickly. The presence of

a large amount of melanin exposes the skin to an increased risk of negative consequences

in relation to the use of the device, including burns, blistering and discolouration of the skin

(hyper- or hypopigmentation).

Is long-term usage of the device bad for my skin?

The use of light and laser energy in aesthetic medicine has been excessively documented

for over 15 years in professional journals that are checked by experts, and by reputable

institutions such as the Mayo Clinic. These journals and institutions have not reported

any side effects or damage as a result of long-term use of light- and laser-based devices.

After unprotected exposure to the sun, how long should I wait before performing a

treatment with the device?

You should wait two weeks after unprotected exposure to the sun before using the device.

If you are still unsure about exposure to the sun, you should consult your doctor.

Are there any particular steps I need to take before using the device?

Before each session using the device, it is important that exposure of the treated surface to

the sun is avoided for at least two weeks. This can be aided by UV sun cream (SPF 50+) and

clothing that covers the treated area. Furthermore, the area to be treated should be cleaned

with mild soap and water and the hair should be shaved down to the surface of the skin.

How should I look after the treated skin surface following a treatment?

The treated skin surface can be cleaned and cared for using commercially available skin

care products. Take particular care to avoid unprotected exposure to the sun for up to 48

hours after the treatment. Sun cream with a high sun protection factor (50+) and clothing

that covers the area provide sufficient protection from the sun.
