With approximately 3” of wire slack, connect the
incoming line wire to the Line Port on the NID-01V.

Connect the two wired datajack connectors to the
Modem and Phone ports.

Carefully observe the proper orientation of the Tip-
Ring leads. Do not remove the insulation from the
wire and maintain the wire twist.
Insert each pair
of wires into the appropriate IDC connector about ½”.

Press the IDC closed, until the IDC latches lock into
place. It will take some force to close the IDC, with
the thicker wire gauges taking more effort.

Attach the datajacks to the faceplate.

Carefully secure the NID-01V to the inside of the
electrical box. Ensure none of the wires are kinked or
crushed.

Fasten the faceplate to the electrical box, using the
screws included with the faceplate.

Affix the included identification label, using the clear
plastic shield provided with the faceplate.

Testing

To test the NID-01V for correct operation, connect a phone to the phone datajack and lift the handset - you should
hear dial tone.

The modem status light should be illuminated indicating xDSL service. You may have to refer to the xDSL modem
user’s guide to correctly interpret the meaning of its status indicators.

Warranty

The NID-01V is covered by a 3-year warranty under normal operating conditions. Defective units should be returned to
Comtest Networks where they will be replaced or repaired and returned to the user. The NID-01V contains no user
serviceable parts. Opening the plastic housing voids the warranty and may expose the user to hazardous voltages.
