Application in restorative therapy
1. Select the shade (see shade guide).
2. Provide appropriate isolation, best with a rubber dam (e.g. OptraDam

®

Plus).

3. Prepare the cavity according to the requirements of the adhesive technique.
4. Clean the cavity with water spray.
5. Air dry the cavity.
6. Do not apply a base material when using an enamel/dentin bonding

agent. Selectively cover very deep areas close to the pulp with a calcium
hydroxide material (e.g. ApexCal

®

) and subsequently use a pressure-resi-

stant cement (e.g. a glass ionomer cement, such as Vivaglass

®

Liner). Do

not cover other cavity walls, since they can be used to support the bond
with an enamel/dentin adhesive.

7.

Apply matrix (e.g. OptraMatrix

®

) / interdental wedge

8. Condition and apply the bonding agent according to the instructions for

use of the product in use. We recommend using Syntac

®

(with phosphoric

acid etching) or ExciTE

®

F (with phosphoric acid etching) or the AdheSE

®

One F self-etching adhesive.

9. Apply Tetric EvoFlow in layers of max. 2 mm or 1.5 mm (Dentin shades,

Bleach XL). Polymerize each layer according to the table shown below.
Hold the light emission window as closely as possible to the surface of
the restorative material. When using a metal matrix, additionally polyme-
rize from the buccal or lingual/palatal after removing the matrix.

10. Tetric EvoFlow curing times: see Table 1 (at the end of the Instructions for

use).

11. Finish the restoration with suitable finishers (e.g. Astropol

®

F or the single-

step OptraPol

®

Next Generation) or fine diamonds.

12. Check the occlusion.
13. Polish with silicone polishers (e.g. Astropol P/HP, Astrobrush

®

or the single-

step OptraPol

®

Next Generation) as well as with polishing discs and

polishing strips.

Application for the cementation of ceramic or composite restorations
Tetric EvoFlow is to be used exclusively in light-curing procedures. Conse-
quently, the composite is only suitable for the cementation of restorations
that are sufficiently translucent to permit enough polymerization light to pass
through the restoration and reach Tetric EvoFlow in order that the composite
can cure completely. Before being cemented in place, the restoration has to
be pre-treated according to the instructions of the manufacturer.

Prepare the cavity as follows:
1. Appropriate isolation, i.e. with a rubber dam or OptraDam Plus, is

required.

2. Remove the temporary restoration and any residue of the temporary

luting material and clean the cavity with a prophy paste (e.g. Proxyt

®

);

subsequently, rinse with water spray and dry the cavity.

3. Condition and apply the bonding agent according to the instructions for

use of the product in use. If necessary, protect the adjacent tooth with a
matrix band during conditioning.

4. Apply Tetric EvoFlow directly to the restoration; insert the restoration,

and remove excess material. To prevent the formation of an oxygen inhi-
bited layer, an oxygen-tight glycerine gel (e.g. Liquid Strip) may be
applied along the restoration margins. Make sure that the glycerine gel is
not mixed with Tetric EvoFlow!

5. Next, polymerize Tetric EvoFlow in segments starting with the proximal

margin:
– If a curing unit with a light intensity of min. 800 mW/cm

2

is used (e.g.

bluephase

®

), light-cure for 10 s per mm of ceramic and segment.

– If a curing unit with a light intensity of 500 to 800 mW/cm

2

is used,

light-cure for 20 s per mm of ceramic and segment.

Remove the gel with water spray after polymerization.

6. After polymerization, remove excess material with suitable finishers (e.g.

Astropol F or single-step OptraPol Next Generation) or fine diamonds.
Remove proximal excess with diamond or tungsten carbide finishers or
finishing strips. Check the occlusion and articulation and adjust if
necessary. Use silicone polishers (e.g. Astropol P/HP, OptraPol Next
Generation) as well as polishing discs and polishing strips to polish the
restoration to a high gloss.

Additional notes
1. Tetric EvoFlow should have room temperature when applied.
2. If necessary, fresh Tetric EvoFlow can be directly applied to polymerized

material. If the material has already been polished, it must first be
roughened before fresh Tetric EvoFlow is applied.

Warning

Unpolymerized Tetric EvoFlow should not come in contact with skin/
mucous membrane or eyes. Unpolymerized Tetric EvoFlow may have a
slight irritating effect and may lead to a sensitization against
methacrylates.

Commercial medical gloves do not provide protection against the
sensitizing effect of methacrylates.

Storage

Storage temperature: 2–28 °C / 36–82 °F.

Close syringes/Cavifils immediately after usage. Exposure to light causes
premature polymerization.

– Shelf life: see note on Cavifils, syringes and packages.

Do not use Tetric EvoFlow after the indicated date of expiration.

Do not use oxidizing disinfectants to disinfect syringes and Cavifils.

If Tetric EvoFlow is applied from the Cavifil directly into the oral
cavity of the patient, we recommend using the Cavifil only once

due to hygienic reasons (prevention of cross-contamination between
patients). The same applies to the application tips of syringes.

Keep the material out of the reach of children.
