Choosing the quantity of coffee

The flavour of the coffee depends on the type and degree of grinding of the coffee used and also on the quantity of water. Cups for
normal coffee, espresso coffee and tea are not all the same size. To adjust the quantity of water desired accurately to the size of the cup
as well, three different espresso coffee positions can be set.

By pressing the following drinks can be selected:

A short coffee.

A normal coffee. The quantity of coffee is the one selected, with a larger amount of water.

A long coffee. In this case too, only the amount of water supplied is altered, giving a weaker flavour.

Choosing 1 or 2 cups

It is possible to make one or two cups at the same time. Choose by pressing the following button:

Preheating cups and pipes

Espresso coffee should always be prepared with the pipes already heated, and served in a hot cup. This will enhance the aroma and
prolong the flavour. ‘Thermal shock’ by using cold cups, can alter the aroma of coffee.

The less the quantity of espresso coffee in the cup, the more important it is to heat the cup.
• Place the cup under the empty filter head.
• Run an empty shot into the cup.
• Leave the water in the cup for 30 seconds and then empty it. This will preheat the pipes as well as the cup.
In order to obtain a good coffee at the right temperature, it is important to always leave the filter head in the filter holder.

Preparing Coffee

• Place the filter head below the ground coffee nozzle, holding it against the rest.
• Press to start the grinding. Grinding stops automatically, however it can be stopped early by pressing the same button again.
• Too much ground coffee will not result in a stronger brew. It will make it difficult to insert into the filter holder.
• Maximum fill should be 2mm below the rim of the filter head cup.
• DO NOT press grinds (tamping) into the filter head cup. This machine is self-tamping.
• Place the filter head in the filter holder, turn clockwise ensuring it locks into place.
• Place the cup or cups below the filter head distributor.
• Wait until the word « coffee » is no longer flashing on the display.
• Press the button to start the supply. The supply stops automatically but it can be stopped early by pressing the same button again.
• Every time coffee is prepared, it is important that you empty the used coffee (called a puck) from the filter head immediately. This is
easily done without the user having to shake it to empty it (patented system).
The puck can be discarded into the waste drawer until a later time.

Should the used coffee not exit easily from the filter head, you need to reinsert the filter head into the holder and press
the button again to start the water supply for a few seconds. The used coffee grinds should now be easily removable.

If the coffee grounds are not in the head when it is removed, they have become adhered to the top of the filter holder.
This happens when the filter head is left in too long after a coffee has been dispensed. you need to reinsert the filter
head into the holder and press the button again to start the water supply for a few seconds. The used coffee grinds
should now be in the filter head and can be removed.

Hot water

• When you switch on the machine, the machine defaults to the Hot Water setting.
• Wait until the word “WATER” is no longer flashing.
• Place the cup or container under the steam wand.
• Turn knob "A" (Fig. 11) to the left to obtain hot water.
