7.2.13 Maintenance and Installation of the Left Double Bearing Bracket Assembly

7.2.13.1 Place the Left Double Bearing Bracket Assembly (Figure 5 item 5) in a vise.

7.2.13.2 With a 5/32” / 4mm diameter drift punch remove 3/16” x 1 1/4” long Spring Pin (Figure 7 item 13) from

the Crank Gear and Double Sprocket (Figure 7 item 4) and 3/16” x 1” long Spring Pin (Figure 7 item 16)
from the Pinion Gear (Figure 7 item 9).

NOTE: Save 3/16” x 1 1/4” long Spring Pin (Figure 6 item 13) and 3/16” x 1” long Spring Pin (Figure 7
item 16) for reuse at a later time.

7.2.13.3 With a 5/32” allen wrench loosen the Socket Set Screw (Figure 7 item 17) in the Pinion Gear (Figure 7

item 9) of the Double Bearing Bracket Assembly (Figure 5 item 5).

7.2.13.4 Remove the Pinion Gear (Figure 7 item 9) and the 2 - 1/2" Washers (Figure 7 item 15) from the axle

(Figure 7 item 5) of the Double Bearing Bracket Assembly (Figure 5 item 5). Save the 1/2" Washers
(Figure 7 item 15) for use at a later time.

7.2.13.5 With a 1/4" / 6mm drift punch drive the Axle (Figure 7 item 5) and Crank Gear and Double Sprocket

(Figure 7 item 4) assembly out of the Double Bearing Bracket Assembly (Figure 5 item 4).

7.2.13.6 With a 1/4" / 6mm drift punch drive Axle (Figure 7 item 5) out of Crank Gear and Double Sprocket

(Figure 7 item 4)

7.2.13.7 Press the new Axle (Figure 7 item 5) into Crank Gear and Double Sprocket (Figure 7 item 4) until is flush

with the face of the sprocket side of the Crank Gear and Double Sprocket (Figure 7 item 4).

7.2.13.8 Place a 3/16” drill in the 3/16” hole of the Crank Gear and Double Sprocket (Figure 7 item 4) and drill

completely through the Crank Gear and Double Sprocket and Axle (Figure 7 item 5) of the Double
Bearing Bracket Assembly (Figure 5 items 5).

Warning: Redrilling of the old Axle will severely weaken the axle

7.2.13.9 Reinstall the 3/16” X1-1/4” long Spring Pin (Figure 7 item 13) in the 3/16” drilled hole in the Crank Gear

and Double Sprocket (Figure 7 item 4)

7.2.13.10 Press the Axle (Figure 7 item 5) and Crank Gear and Double Sprocket (Figure 7 item 4) assembly into the

Double Bearing Bracket Assembly (Figure 5 item 5).

7.2.13.11 Place the 2 of the 1/2" Washers (Figure 7 item 15) on the Axle (Figure 7 item 5).

7.2.13.12 Press the Pinion Gear (Figure 7 item 9) on to the axle (Figure 7 item 5).

7.2.13.13 With a 5/32” allen wrench snug the Socket Set Screw (Figure 7 item 17) in the Pinion Gear (Figure 7 item

9) of the Double Bearing Bracket Assembly (Figure 5 item 5) so Pinion Gear will turn with some
resistance.

7.2.13.14 Place the Drive Chain (Figure 5 item 14) on the Crank Gear and Double Sprocket (Figure 7 item 4)

assembly of the Left Double Bearing Bracket Assembly (Figure 5 item 5).

7.2.13.15 Move the Double Bearing Bracket Assembly (Figure 5 item 5) into position on the backside of the Saddle

(Figure 5 item1), while rotating the Pinion Gear (Figure 7 item 9) so teeth mesh in the teeth of Ring Gear
(Figure 5 item 3).

7.2.13.16 Install the 3/8-16 x 7/8” Hex Head Cap Screws (Figure 5 item 11) and 3/8” Washer (Figure 5 item 13)

through the Double Bearing Bracket (Figure 5 item 5) and screw into the Saddle (Figure 5 item 1).

7.2.13.17 The should be a .005” to .007” gap between the Pinion Gear (Figure 7 item 9) of the Double Bearing

Bracket Assembly (Figure 5 Item 5) and the teeth of Ring Gear (Figure 5 item 3).

7.2.13.18 Tighten the 3/8-16 x 7/8” Hex Head Cap Screws (Figure 5 item 11) with a 9/16” wrench until the Double

Bearing Bracket Assembly (Figure 5 Item 5) cannot be move.

7.2.13.19 Move the Double Bearing Bracket Assembly (Figure 5 item 5) outward with a soft face mallet stretching

the Drive Chain (Figure 5 item 16) between the 2 Double Bearing Bracket Assembly until it is tight, while
maintaining the .005” to .007” gap between the Pinion Gear (Figure 7 item 9) and the teeth of Ring Gear
(Figure 5 item 3).

7.2.13.20 Tighten the Socket Set Screw (Figure 6 item 7) in the Pinion Gear (Figure 6 item 4) of the Double Bearing

Bracket Assembly (Figure 5 item 5) with a 5/32” allen wrench.
