Caution Eye Safety

Attention:

Visible and invisible light emitted from fiber optical component may cause permanent

damage to your eyes!


To avoid damage to the eyes

never look straight into the output of fiber optic components – danger of blinding!

cover all unused optical connections with caps.

commission the transmission link only after completing all connections.

The active laser components used with this product comply with the provisions of Laser Class 1.

Assembling


To install an SFP transceiver, perform the following procedure:

Caution:
The transceiver can be damaged by static electricity. Be sure to observe all standard electrostatic
discharge (ESD) precautions, such as wearing an antistatic wrist strap, to avoid damaging the
device.

Instructions for installation:

1.

Remove the sealing plugs of the SFP slot.

2.

Remove the transceiver from the shipping package and store the packaging material at

safe place.

3.

Open the clip on the SFP.

4.

With the clip closed, insert the SFP in the hardware until you hear it engage. The SFP is

then firmly secured.

5.

If you are connecting the fiber optic cable to the SFP at this time, continue to step 6.

Otherwise, stop here.

6.

Remove the sealing plugs.

7.

Insert the connection cable into the SFP until you hear it engage. The connecting cable is

then firmly secured.


For information about the transceiver port LEDs, refer to the appropriate hardware installation
guide.

Uninstalling:

1.

Remove the connected cable of the SFP.

2.

Open the clip of the SFP and remove the SFP from the hardware.

3.

close the SFP port with a sealing plug.

4.

close the SFP with a sealing plug.
