Operation

In normal operation, the AS-816 will route a

port to the first available CO line whenever the port
requests a line (goes "OFF HOOK"). When a port
finishes the call (goes "ON HOOK"), the AS-816
will do the following:

!

Immediately drop the CO line the port

was using,

!

Disconnect the port from that CO line,

!

Either, disable the port, if in an overflow

condition, or start looking for that port
to request another line, if not in an
overflow condition, and

!

Wait two seconds before making that CO

line available again.

Once the last available line has been assigned to

a port, the AS-816 will go into an overflow
condition. In an overflow condition, the unit will
disable, cut the "Talk Battery", from all ports that
currently are not connected to a CO line. During an
overflow condition, the AS-816 will disable a port
after that port finishes its call. The overflow
condition is cleared when any CO line becomes
available (2 seconds after a port finishes its call, the
