Wireless Modem Operation

You must be logged on with administrator privileges before pro-
ceeding. Contact your network administrator or help desk for
more information.

Download the INF file from http://mobileinternet.ericsson.com

Turn on your Ericsson mobile phone.

Connect one end of your serial cable to your Ericsson mobile
phone and the other end to your computer’s serial port.

Go to Start, Settings, Control Panel and double click on Modems.

If a window titled “Install New Modem” appears, proceed to the
next step. Otherwise, if a window titled “Modem Properties”
appears, then under the General tab, click the Add button.

Check the Don’t detect my modem; I will select it from a list box.
Click Next.

Click Have Disk. Click Browse. Navigate to the file you down-
loaded in step 1 and select it. Click Open, then click OK.

Select the modem you want to install, then click Next.
Note! If you do not know which modem you need, check with your mobile
service provider to determine the data service you have.

Select the COM port to which you are connecting the phone.
Click Next.

Click Finish. Click Close.
Troubleshooting

You cannot set up or maintain a data/fax session.
This will occur if you are inadvertently originating a voice call
when attempting a data/fax call. To correct the problem, do the
following:
a From the Start menu on your Windows desktop, click on Set-
tings, then Control Panel.
b Double-click the Modems icon.
c Select the General tab.
d Select Ericsson CDMA Data/Fax Modem from the pull-down
list.
e Click Properties.
f Click General. Make sure that the maximum speed is set to
19200.
g Select the Connection tab.
h Click Advanced.
i In the Extra settings box, type the following:
&C1+CRM=0;
j Click OK to return to the Connection tab.
k Click OK to return to Modem Properties.
l Click Close.
Note! If you are using an application that supplies its own box for entering
extra settings, then type the following command string into that box
as well:
+COS=4,1,2,0; +ES=1,0,1; +DS=0,0,512,6;

You cannot originate a voice call.
