6.3 Shaving

DANGER! Risk of electric
shock!
The hand-held device and the plug-
in power unit are not waterproof
and are therefore not allowed to be
used in a shower/bath.

WARNING!
• Do not use the device on open wounds,

cuts, sunburn or blisters.

• Do not place excessive pressure on the

shaving foils1. They are thin and can
be damaged easily.

NOTES:
• The device is suitable for both dry and

wet shaving (Wet & Dry).

• Initial use may cause temporary irrita-

tion or redness of the skin, as the skin
has to adjust to shaving. This is normal
and usually lasts between 2 and
4weeks.

Dry shaving (Rechargeable bat-
tery and mains operation)

• Hold the device at a right angle to the

skin surface and gently guide it over
your face.

• Shave against the direction of your

beard growth.

• Stretch your skin in complicated areas,

such as the chin, to achieve better re-
sults.

• Switch off the device after shaving,

clean the parts carefully (chapter
"Cleaning and maintenance of the de-
vice" on page 51) and place the protec-
tive lid11 onto the shaving head4 to
protect the shaving foils1 and the long
hair trimmer12.

Wet shaving (only for battery
operation)

DANGER! Risk of electric
shock!
The hand-held device and the plug-
in power unit are not waterproof.
Wet shaving is only allowed when
using battery power.

WARNING! Risk of material dam-
age!
For wet shaving use shaving foam or
lather only; never use shaving gel or shaving
cream. This could adhere to the cutter
blocks.

• Before shaving, smooth a thin layer of

shaving foam on your face.

• Shave your face as described in the

chapter "Dry shaving (Rechargeable
battery and mains operation)".

• If shaving foam should clog the shaving

head4, clean the shaving head under
running water (chapter "Cleaning and
maintenance of the device" on page 51).

Cutting long hair

Use the long hair trimmer12 on the back of
the shaver to shorten your beard and side-
burns.
1. Take off the protective lid11.
2. Push the long hair trimmer12 up.
3. Switch on the shaver with the on/off

switch6.

4. After use, switch the device off, slide

the long hair trimmer12 back to its
original position and clean the device
(chapter "Cleaning and maintenance
of the device" on page 51).

Designer stubble

NOTE: depending on beard growth and
shaving, the appearance of a designer stub-
ble can vary greatly.
