4 Getting started

Setting the
analog
recording level

Compared to analog tape, the
distortion that you get from
overloading a CD is much less
tolerable, and something you’ll
definitely want to avoid.

What you want to aim for is a
level where the loudest sound
from your source material is
recorded onto the CD at a level
just below the point where it
overloads (where it produces an
unpleasant, buzzy distortion).

1

Press INPUT SELECTOR to
choose the analog input.

Pressing

INPUT

SELECTOR

repeatedly switches the active
input:

Analog - Optical - Coaxial

The recorder’s display indicates
the current input.

2

Make sure the recorder is
stopped, then press
RECORD

(

REC on the

remote control).

The recorder goes into record-
pause. (You can also press

MONITOR

.)

3

Start playing the source.

4

Adjust the recording level
using the ANALOG REC
LEVEL control.

Don’t let the recording level to

reach the red

indicator!
