Configuring the System

You can customize your HP Digital Entertainment Center
system settings.

Plasma TV/Display Image Retention

Your plasma or LCD display may permanently retain an
image if a still image is displayed for prolonged periods
(plasma TVs are particularly susceptible to image
retention). To avoid image retention, follow these
guidelines:

Always use a low-contrast screen saver from your
HP Digital Entertainment Center display settings
(select Start, Control Panel, Appearance and
Themes
, Choose a screen saver).

Avoid keeping a stationary (static) image on the
screen for extended periods. Stationary images
include, but are not limited to:

Media Center User Interface or PC desktop.

Still images and photos, or video paused for
prolonged periods.

Use low-contrast colors for desktop background
images.

Reduce TV brightness to around 50 percent.

After displaying any still image, play back a video in
the Wide or Full screen setting for over three times
longer than the previous still image was displayed.
