How to Partially Restore Clothes

Once clothes have developed limestone deposits,
they may be partially restored by soaking in a solution
of two cups (480 ml) of

in one

(3.8 liters)

of hot tap water for 15 minutes. USE A PLASTIC
CONTAINER. Then wash clothes in the washer
using detergent.

CAUTIONS:

Do not use vinegar soak solution in washer. The

acidic action of the vinegar may damage the
porcelain.

Vinegar soak solution may reduce the

wrinkle-resistance of permanent press fabrics.

Vinegar soak may damage the dyes in some fabrics.

HOW MUCH DETERGENT

YOU USE?

The use of a sufficient amount of detergent is one of the most
important things you can do to make sure

your

wash comes out

clean.

Amount required varies
according to:

1. Water hardness

2. Amount of soil
3. Size of load

4. Type of detergent
5. Wash temperature

Use more detergent if you have...

1. Hard water

2. Large
3. Greasy or oily soils
4. Lower wash temperature
5. Low phosphate detergent

If the recommended amount of

detergent produces too many suds,
switch to a low

detergent

brand, and follow instructions
on package.

Using too little
detergent is a
common cause
of laundry
problems. Always
measure detergent

in a standard measuring cup.

How to use
granular or powdered:

For best results, add detergent
to the wash basket before loading
clothes. If you load your clothes
first, add detergent next to
the agitator.

If your detergent doesn’t dissolve
well,

the detergent in

hot water, then pour directly into
the wash basket.

1. Use recommended amount

of detergent for your load
and water hardness as shown
in guide at left.

2. When using other detergent

types—low and normal suds,
powders, liquids, non-phosphate
powders—follow directions
on package.

3. For Extra Cleaning cycle,

double the amount of detergent
recommended in guide at left.

4. For hard water treatment,

see Hard Water Guide.
