Introduction

Congratulations on your purchase of a
high-quality Insignia product. Your NS-R2111
represents the state of the art in outdoor speaker
design, and is designed for reliable and
trouble-free performance.

Safety information

Although the your new rock speakers are
designed to withstand outdoor conditions, there
are things you can do to prolong the life of your
speakers:

Keep dirt and leaves from covering the
speaker grille. If dirt accumulates on the
grille, it can be rinsed away with water.

Avoid placing the speakers so that they face
directly at any sprinklers.

Chemicals commonly used in the back yard
may damage the rubber parts of the
speakers. Avoid spraying these chemicals
onto the speakers.

Features

Each Insignia NS-R2111 rock speaker package
includes the following items:

2 rock speakers

50 feet (15.24 m) of outdoor speaker wire

2 electrical connector caps

User Guide

Setting up your speakers

Planning speaker locations

Your rock speakers feature a wide angle of
coverage. A few speakers will cover a large area
with sound.
When designing your outdoor system:

It is better to have more speakers playing at
lower volumes, than a few speakers playing
at high volumes.

Place the speakers as close to the listening
area as possible.

Make sure that you can easily run wire to
each of the speaker locations.

Gathering your tools

To install your new speakers, you will need:

A small spade or shovel

Measuring tape

Wire cutters

Wire strippers

Heat shrink tubing (recommended)

A lighter or matches for heat shrink tubing

A soldering gun

Connecting the speakers

To connect your speakers:

1 Measure out lengths of speaker wire required

to connect each speaker. Estimate the length
of additional speaker wire you will need, if
necessary.

2 Dig a 5-inch deep trench to each speaker

location for the speaker wire.

3 Connect the speaker wire to the speaker.

Each speaker has a two-conductor cable
exiting the bottom of the speaker, which can
be run beneath the speaker into the ground,
or through the notch on the bottom of the
speaker to the side.

Note

Purchase direct burial-grade wire if you need
additional speaker wire.

Caution

Make sure that all connections are secure. A poor
connection can lead to corrosion and a loss of
performance.
For best results, crimp or solder the wires together
and use heat-shrink tubing to seal each individual
conductor, then join the two sealed connections
together with the electrical connector cap provided
or with another layer of heat-shrink tubing.
