How To... Replace the DC Controller E - Prom

Special Tools Required: None

NOTE: Ground yourself by positioning the provided anti-static strap around your wrist and attaching the other end
(alligator clip or adhesive end) to a bare metal surface on the machine frame.

1.

Turn the unit power OFF at the switch, and then unplug the line cord at
the wall outlet.

2.

Remove four Phillips screws securing the motor cover to the frame.
Squeeze in the sides of the motor cover near the uprights so that the tab
on user’s left side clears the frame, and then lift off the motor cover.

3.

Remove cable ties along the cross frame.

4.

Remove four screws from the front of the unit and lift out the DC
Controller to access the wiring.

5.

To ensure correct wiring locations, mark all wiring connectors at the back
of the DC Controller before making any disconnects. Once all wires are
tagged and identified, then disconnect connectors at the back of the DC
Controller Assembly.

6.

Using Two small thin flat screw drivers and carefully remove the existing
e-prom as illustrated.

7.

Carefully install the NEW e-prom ensuring all the leads are inserted
properly and not bent.

NOTE: The direction of the notch on the e-prom, matches the notch on
the circuit board.

8.

Install DC Controller in reverse order, and replace all wire ties.

9.

Turn the unit power OFF at the switch, and then unplug the line cord at
the wall outlet.

10.

Remove the motor cover.

11.

Disconnect RPM sensor cable and discard.

12.

Install the provided OPTO bracket cable assembly as illustrated.

NOTE: Be sure the chopper wheel is centered within the opto sensor.

13.

Inspect and test the drive belt and running belt for slipping. To tension the
drive belt, loosen the four motor mounting nuts, turn the tension bolt
clockwise and set the belt tension to 95 lbs and tighten the mounting
nuts.

If the running belt is loose, tension and track the belt as described in the
product Operation or Service Manual.

14.

Carefully clean and vacuum the motor compartment.

15.

Reinstall the motor cover.

16.

Test the operation (Range of Incline, speed, Heart Rate) of each treadmill
to ensure proper operation.
