Loading media
Follow these guidelines when using the multipurpose feeder:
• Load only one size and type of media at a time.
• To achieve the best possible print quality, use only high-quality media that is designed for use in laser printers.
See Media guidelines for information on selecting types of media.
• To prevent jams, do not add media to the multipurpose feeder when it already contains media.
• Do not close the multipurpose feeder while a job is printing. Doing so may cause a jam.
• Load media with the top edge going into the multipurpose feeder first. (Letterhead goes in face-down.)
• Do not place objects on the multipurpose feeder. Also, avoid applying excessive force to it.
• Remove media from the multipurpose feeder, and push the extensions back into place if opening the lower door is
needed. To release the media, press the release tab. For an illustration of the release tab, see page 57.
Loading the multipurpose feeder
1 Push the multipurpose feeder latch to the right.
2 Pull the multipurpose feeder door down.
