Skid Shoe Maintenance

CAUTION
Excessive wear on skid shoes may cause inadequate operation
of cutter and create a safety hazard!
There is one skid shoe on each wing deck, one on the
weight box, and two on the center deck. The skid shoes
on the center deck may be mounted either under the two
outside corners or, as an alternate location, under the
two inside corners. Check all skid shoes for wear and
replace if necessary. Order only genuine Land Pride
parts from your local Land Pride dealer.
Center Skid Shoe
Refer to Figure 5-9:
Replace center skid shoes as follows:
1. Remove 5/8" hex whiz nuts (#4), 5/8" hex bolts (#3),
and center skid shoes (#1) from center deck (#2).
2. Attach new skid shoes (#1) to cutter with existing
5/8" hex bolts (#3) and secure with 5/8" hex whiz
nuts (#4). Tighten nuts to the correct torque.
Weight Box Skid Shoe
Refer to Figure 5-10:
Reverse or replace weight box skid shoe as follows:
1. Remove 3/8" hex whiz nuts (#3), 3/8"-16 GR5 plow
bolts (#2), and weight box skid shoe (#1) as shown.
2. Plow bolts (#2) should be checked for wear and
replaced if necessary.
3. Reverse existing skid shoe (#1) and reattach or
attach new skid shoe to cutter with existing
3/8" plow bolts (#2) and 3/8" hex whiz nuts. Tighten
whiz nuts to the correct torque.
Wing Skid Shoe
Refer to Figure 5-11:
Reverse or replace wing skid shoes as follows:
1. Remove 3/8" hex whiz nuts (#4), 3/8"-16 GR5 plow
bolts (#3), and wing skid shoe (#2) as shown.
2. Plow bolts should be checked for wear and replaced
if necessary.
3. Reverse existing skid shoe (#1) and reattach or
attach new skid shoe to cutter with existing
3/8" plow bolts (#3) and 3/8" hex whiz nuts (#4).
Tighten nuts to the correct torque.
