MAINTENANCE AND LUBRICATION
Transmission Oil
Always check and change the transmission
oil at the intervals outlined in the Periodic
Maintenance Chart beginning on page 68.
Maintain the oil level 1 5/8” from the top
of the fill hole. We recommend the use of
Premium AGL Synthetic Gearcase
Lubricant. Refer to the gearcase
specifications chart on page 76. See page
108 for the part numbers of Polaris products.
Oil Check
The transmission fill plug is located on
the right side of the machine, behind the
footwell.
1. Position the ATV on a level surface.
2. Remove the fill plug (1), and check
the oil level.
3. Add the recommended oil as needed.
4. Reinstall the fill plug. Torque to
specification.
Oil Change
The transmission drain plug is located on the bottom left hand side of
the machine.
1. Remove the propshaft shield (if equipped) from the right side of
the vehicle to access the fill plug.
2. Remove the fill plug.
3. Remove the transmission drain plug and drain the oil into an
appropriate container. Discard used oil properly.
4. Clean and reinstall the drain plug. Torque to specification.
5. Add the recommended fluid.
6. Reinstall the fill plug. Torque to specification.
7. Check for leaks.
8. Reinstall the propshaft shield (if equipped).
