Other Operations

Random Play

The chapters or tracks of the disc are played in random order.

Press RANDOM.

The random playback starts.

The Random Play display appears on the
screen.

To turn off the Random Play display

Press ON SCREEN or CLEAR.
The menu is switched off when no operation is performed for
about 5 seconds.

To cancel random play

Press RANDOM so that RANDOM indicator goes off or to select
“Standard Play”.
Each time you press RANDOM, random play will be on and off.

The Standard Play display appears when random is off.

Notes

• You cannot play DVDs in random order.
• When playing a PBC-compatible Video CD and PBC is on, you cannot

play it in random order. To use random play, press TOP MENU and
select “PBC off”, then press RANDOM.

Progressive Scan Function (NTSC Video
Output Only)

Progressive Scan function operates only when using NTSC format
disc.

Press P. SCAN to display
Progressive or Interlaced icon on
TV.

Press P. SCAN again while
displayed to switch between
Progressive and Interlaced.

Notes

• When component video is connected, you can use Progressive scan. If

S-Video or Composite video is connected, Progressive scan is not
available.

• If you connect a TV that is not compatible with a progressive scan signal

and choose “Progressive”, the picture may be distorted. With your TV
connected using either the Composite or S-Video terminals, choose
“Interlaced”.

• Progressive Scan only works with NTSC format disc.
