TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE

Read the following section carefully. This guide will help your ZAPPY achieve max-
imum performance. If you cannot adjust your ZAPPY using this guide, call ZAP at
(707) 824-4150. Our customer service representatives will be glad to help you.

ALWAYS WEAR A HELMET!

POSSIBLE CAUSE

Power switch is in off position

Broken drive belt

Vehicle not moving at least 3 mph

Battery is drained

Electrical fault in wiring

Battery not connected

Brake cable wrapped around handlebar

Handlebar overextended

Brake too tight

Circuit breaker has tripped

Inadequate rider input (kicking) for incline

Low tire pressure

Hilly terrain

Out of adjustment

Battery is not “broken in”

Cold battery

Makes “popping” noise when accelerating

Battery not fully charged

Damaged, old battery

ACTION TO BE TAKEN

Push switch on the left side of the battery tray
to ON position (Push button until it clicks)

Replace the belt

Kick up to 3 mph

Charge battery immediately

Check all wiring connections
(battery terminals, motor leads, etc.)

Connect Battery

Unwrap cable

Lower handlebar (see “Brake Operation”)

Adjust brake

Release throttle, wait 5 seconds

Kick more

Inflate to at least 36 psi

Kick more

Tune brakes, bearings, make sure belt is
not overtightened

Charge, use, charge 4-10 times before
optimum range

Keep the battery warm when charging

Make sure belt is properly tightened

1) Keep battery in fully charged condition
2) Refer to the charger instructions
included with your ZAPPY to determine
when your battery is completely charged.

Replace battery
