Using Soft Keys

Soft keys are located along the bottom of the screen and are used as shortcuts to

select the most commonly used options for the selected page, window, or tab. To

select a soft key, press the

key directly below it.

Status Bar

At the top of each page, the status bar provides current status information for

connected devices and several of the GPSMAP 3205 functions. As additional

devices are added to the unit or the Garmin Marine Network, an icon for each

device appears on the status bar.

Alarm alerts also appear on the status bar. To acknowledge an alarm, press QUIT.

If an alarm condition persists, it appears on the status bar until the alarm condition

no longer exists. For more information on alarms, see

page 56

and

page 105.

Turning on the GPSMAP 3205

Before you turn on the GPSMAP 3205, make sure the unit and GPS 17 antenna

are correctly installed on your vessel according to the instructions in the

GPSMAP 3205 & GPS 17 Installation Instructions.
The first time you turn on the GPSMAP 3205 and GPS 17 receiver, the receiver

must collect satellite data and establish its current location. To ensure proper

initialization, the GPSMAP 3205 is shipped from the factory in AutoLocate

mode.

To turn on the GPSMAP 3205:

1. Press and hold the

POWER key until the unit turns on.

2. When

I Agree is highlighted on the Warning Page, press ENTER to open

the Map Page.
