Installing the Ferrite Bead Clamp

In order to filter Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) radiation

that could possibly interfere with items such as televisions, radios,

or other marine electronics operating in close proximity to the

GPSMAP 192C with the remote antenna, a ferrite bead filter clamp

and neoprene foam strip are included for attachment to the unit’s

antenna cable. The clamp attaches to the antenna cable near the

point it connects to the back of the GPSMAP 192C. The foam strip

has adhesive on one side and is used to keep the clamp stationary

on the cable.

To install the ferrite bead clamp:

1. Choose a location where there is no more than two inches

(5 cm) from the back of the GPSMAP 192C.

2. Remove the backing from the adhesive foam strip. Place

the strip at an angle to the cable with adhesive facing

towards the cable. Snugly spiral wrap the foam strip around

the antenna cable. (Figure 1)

3. Open the filter clamp by slightly pulling on the latch and

opening the filter halves.

4. Position the clamp (Figure 2) and squeeze it shut around

the cable until the latch is securely fastened. If the clamp is

difficult to close, you can want to remove some of the foam

strip.

The clamp should not need to be replaced under normal use. Please

contact your Garmin dealer or Garmin Support if you have any

questions or require a replacement filter clamp.
