Never pour any type of paint away down a drain.

(1): The flash point is the temperature at which an ignition source 1 cm from the surface of the liquid will
cause ignition.

Preparation

Liquids
Paints usually need to be diluted for use with the spray gun. Before using the spray gun, determine the
viscosity of the liquid. Use the guidelines in the table below to obtain a sprayable solution.
1. Stir the liquid thoroughly before measuring.
2. Make sure the viscosity cup [A] is clean and fill it to the top with liquid.
3. Measure the depletion time of the cup. Refer to the table below for an overview of recommended

depletion times (in seconds) for various types of paint.

Spray liquid

Depletion time

Spray liquid

Depletion time

thinner-soluble primers

25-40 s

wood preservatives, strippers, oils use undiluted

thinner-soluble varnishes

15-40 s

disinfectants, plant protectors

use undiluted

water-soluble primers

25-40 s

automobile spray paint

20-35 s

water-soluble varnishes

20-35 s

4. If the measured depletion time is higher than indicated in the table, the paint must be diluted with a

suitable thinner. Mix well and measure the viscosity again. Repeat this step until the depletion time
is within the limits as shown in the table above.
