SYSTEM CHECK

1.

2.

Check the transmission fluid and add fluid as needed. Start the engine and check for and secure any leaks. Verify that
the hoses do not interfere with any moving parts.

Re-check the transmission fluid and add fluid as needed after transmission is at operating temperature.

PLUMBING

Locate Transmission Lines

Hose Connections

1.

Find the two transmission oil lines that run from the transmission to the

radiator, usually steel lines connected to the bottom radiator tank or on a cross-
flow radiator the passenger side tank.

2.

We recommend using the cooler in series with the factory radiator cooler. To do

this you need to determine the return line to the transmission. Warm up vehicle &
feel the trans lines, the colder of the two lines will be the return line.

1.

Disconnect the return transmission line from the radiator.

2.

Take the Insta-dapt Radiator Adapter provided and check to see if the threads

match. (some 1996 and later vehicles have larger transmission lines and require
the purchase of alternate radiator fittings). If your vehicle has a different thread
visit www.derale.com for other fittings available. The Insta-dapt adapter has both a
5/16 male and female thread. If the threads are correct, screw the adapter onto
the radiator. See Diagram #2

3.

Using the hose and hose clamps provided, attach a hose to either of the 11/32”

Inlets on the Frame Rail Cooler.

4.

Attach the other end of the hose to the Insta-dapt Radiator Adapter.

See Diagram #1

5.

Attach a second hose to the return transmission line and then to the second fitting

on the Frame Rail Cooler. See Diagram #1
