Data Transfer Speeds
The DVD drive can operate in normal speed mode and CAV mode (min. transfer rate is 8.6X at inner side and max
transfer rate is 24X at outer side) for CD discs, providing a transfer rate of 3.6MB max for CD-ROM data. The DVD
drive can operate in normal speed mode and PCLV speed mode (min transfer rate is 1.0X at inner side and max transfer
rate is 4.0X at outer side) for DVD discs providing a transfer rate of 5.2MB max for DVD data. The DVD drive has a
data buffer which is implemented as a ring buffer with a size of 512kB.
