3.4.6 UPDATE FIRMWARE

Occasionally, new features may be added to the Level Scout. The latest version of Level Scout firmware can be retrieved from YSI’s
website, www.ysi.com. The currently installed version of firmware is displayed at the top of each main tab. There are two methods to
update firmware: the normal method and the alternate method. Both methods are described separately below. Both methods perform
the same task, but the alternate method is sometimes required should the normal method not finish for some reason (i.e. in case the
transducer is accidentally disconnected from the PC during a normal firmware update).

3.4.6.1 NORMAL FIRMWARE UPDATE METHOD

Click the Update Firmware button (Figure 3.33) at the bottom of the Parameters tab. After clicking this button, a prompt will ask to
confirm the firmware update in the attached transducer (Figure 3.34).

After confirming the firmware update, a file selection window will open. Locate the firmware update (.hex) file that was retrieved from
YSI’s website. Select that file and confirm the selection by clicking the Open button.

The file will be read and verified before being written to the transducer. A progress bar window will open to indicate the status of the
update.

Note: During the firmware update, you cannot exit from the software application or disconnect the Level Scout from the PC. Doing so
may corrupt the firmware and make the Level Scout inoperable.
