A successful firmware update is indicated by the pop-up window. After clicking OK in this window, the Change Date/Time window
will open automatically. It is important to reset the Level Scout’s transducer date and time to correct for any time loss that occurred
during the firmware update.

If you get an error message during the firmware update, notate the com port listed in the error message. This will be used in the
alternative firmware update function. Before attempting the Alternate Firmware Update, change the Level Scout batteries and try the
Normal Update again. The firmware update is power intensive; therefore, new batteries may be required.

3.4.6.2 ALTERNATE FIRMWARE UPDATE METHOD

Before attempting the Alternate Firmware Update, replace the Level Scout batteries and try the Normal Update again. The firmware
update is power intensive; therefore, new batteries may be required.

The Alternate Firmware Update method can be started from the Transducer menu of Data Scout’s initial screen (Figure 3.35). A
prompt will open asking if you want to continue, select Yes if you wish to continue with the update.

Once the attached transducer is discovered, a file window opens. Navigate to and open the .hex firmware file you wish to upload to the
Level Scout. A firmware verification progress bar will open verifying the process. Once complete, a message will pop-up indicating that
you should reset the Level Scout. After clicking OK, you must perform the reset within 2 minutes. Reset the transducer by briefly
short-circuiting the center pin of the external power connector (located on the communication adapter) to the surrounding metallic
frame.

After a successful firmware update, be sure to reset the transducer’s data and time.
