Troubleshooting
This section gives recommendations on what to do if you have problems operating
the TPX switcher.
1 . Ensure that all devices are plugged in and powered on. The switcher is
receiving power if one of the input LEDs is lit.
2 . Ensure an active input is selected for output on the switcher.
3 . Ensure that the proper signal format is supplied.
4 . Check the cabling and make corrections as necessary.
5 . Call the Extron S 3 Sales & Technical Support Hotline if necessary.
Worksheets
Rather than trying to remember the configuration for each preset, use worksheets
to record this information. Make copies of the blank worksheet on page 3-31 and
use one for each preset configuration. Cross out all unused or inactive inputs and
outputs. If applicable, use different colors for video and audio.
Worksheet example 1: System equipment
Figure 3-47 shows a worksheet for a TPX 88 A in a fictional organization. System
hardware is annotated. Input 6 has no connection, so it has been crossed out.
Inputs include PCs, a CD player, cameras, and a VTG 300, all connected through TP
transmitters. Output devices include monitors, front and rear projectors, a stereo,
and a VCR for recording presentations, all connected through TP receivers.
The Extron VTG 300 video test generator connected to input 8 enables a video test
pattern to be sent to one, several, or all output devices for problem isolation or
adjustment purposes. An audio test tape or CD could be used in a similar manner
to check out the audio components.
